China Urges Paraguay to Choose One-China Principle

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has called on the Paraguayan government to \"stand on the right side of history\" by adhering to the one-China principle. This statement comes in response to a recent social media post by Paraguayan President Santiago Pena, who highlighted the \"in-depth and friendly\" diplomatic relations between Paraguay and Taiwan.

In his post, President Pena noted that these relations have not hindered trade between Paraguay and China, citing soybean exports as an example. However, Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian pointed out that official Chinese statistics show zero imports of soybeans from Paraguay in recent years.

Lin emphasized that there is only one China in the world and that Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory. He stated that the one-China principle is a widely recognized norm in international relations and represents international justice, enjoying popular support globally.

The spokesperson urged Paraguay to recognize the global trend and choose to support the one-China principle, arguing that such a move would better serve the country's development and the well-being of its people.
