In a move signaling strengthened ties, Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met with a delegation led by Kim Song Nam, international department director of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) Central Committee, in Beijing this Saturday.
During the discussions, Wang Yi emphasized that maintaining, consolidating, and developing the traditional friendship with the Democratic Peopleโs Republic of Korea (DPRK) remains a steadfast policy of the CPC and the Chinese government in the new era. As a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Wang expressed China's willingness to collaborate with the DPRK in organizing a series of activities for the China-DPRK Friendship Year. He highlighted the aim to expand pragmatic cooperation across various fields, paving the way for a brighter future in China-DPRK relations.
Kim Song Nam echoed these sentiments, describing the DPRK-China friendship as a shared strategic asset. He acknowledged the DPRK's appreciation for China's support of its socialist endeavors and pledged support for China's initiatives concerning Taiwan, Xinjiang, and Hong Kong.
This meeting underscores the commitment both nations have towards fostering a robust partnership, which holds significant implications for regional stability and international cooperation. As China and the DPRK strengthen their alliance, the initiatives undertaken during the Friendship Year are expected to enhance economic, cultural, and diplomatic engagements, benefiting not only the two countries but also their global partners.
