2025 Financial Street Forum: Driving Global Finance in a New Era

On October 27, Beijing on the Chinese mainland will host the 2025 edition of the Annual Conference of the Financial Street Forum (FSF). Over the next four days, more than 400 representatives from over 30 countries and regions will come together under the theme "Global Financial Development in an Era of Innovation, Transformation and Restructuring."

As the world navigates rapid shifts in technology, sustainability and economic structures, sub-branches like science and technology finance, green finance, inclusive finance and digital finance have emerged as critical areas of policy focus. Attendees will explore how these innovations can better serve the real economy and support steady growth.

High-quality financial services lie at the heart of a resilient industrial system. In the past five years, institutions on the Chinese mainland have provided over $24 trillion in new financial support for the real economy, leveraging smart instruments such as equity financing. This massive leap underscores the power of targeted funding to fuel innovation and build self-sufficient industries.

China’s accommodative monetary stance and targeted financial regulation are helping to boost investor confidence. Between November 2024 and September 2025, nearly 100 companies made their market debut through initial public offerings, reflecting a vibrant capital market and growing opportunities for domestic and overseas participants.

Global experience shows that sustained financial inflows can waver under economic headwinds, highlighting the need for collaborative strength among international organizations, business leaders and dynamic small and medium-sized enterprises. Deeper links between onshore and offshore markets could diversify contributors to growth and enhance resilience.

Looking ahead, stronger coordination between fiscal, monetary and industrial policies will be key to unlocking new avenues for the real economy. Discussions at the forum will offer a blueprint for harnessing data-driven insights, innovative financing tools and cross-border collaboration to drive sustainable development worldwide.
