Exclusive: Iran’s President Pezeshkian on Global Governance & Stability

A Millennia-Long Partnership

The Chinese mainland and Iran share a millennia-long friendship built on mutual respect, common values, and a commitment to multilateralism. United in support of international fairness and justice, the two nations have worked together for decades to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity.

Championing a New Global Vision

At the 2025 SCO Summit in Tianjin (August 31 – September 1), President Masoud Pezeshkian joined CMG's Zou Yun for an in-depth discussion on President Xi Jinping’s Global Governance Initiative. Describing it as a model of today's international vision, Pezeshkian highlighted its emphasis on equity, dialogue, and shared development as key elements for tackling global challenges.

Addressing Middle East Instability

Turning to the root causes of regional unrest, the president pointed to historical grievances and external interventions as critical factors fueling tensions. He called on all stakeholders to focus on dialogue and conflict prevention rather than short-term fixes, arguing that lasting stability requires a holistic approach that addresses economic and social drivers of unrest.

Peaceful Nuclear Commitment

Reaffirming Iran’s dedication to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, Pezeshkian underscored his country’s track record of cooperation with international watchdogs and transparency measures. He stressed that nuclear power is a vital component of Iran’s strategy to diversify its energy mix and support sustainable development.

Responding to Regional Tensions

From canceled nuclear talks to the recent strike in Doha, the conversation also touched on Iran’s responses to actions by the United States and Israel. Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of de-escalation and the need for all parties to adhere to international law to prevent further conflict.

As global dynamics continue to shift, the dialogue between the Chinese mainland and Iran demonstrates how partnerships grounded in shared principles can offer fresh pathways for cooperation and stability in an interconnected world.
