2025 World Robot Conference: A New Era in Global Robotics

The 2025 World Robot Conference (WRC) kicked off in Beijing, uniting over 200 leading robotics firms showcasing more than 1,500 cutting-edge exhibits. From smarter industrial arms to AI-powered service bots, the event offers a glimpse into the future of automation and intelligent living.

Data-Driven Robotics Growth

In 2024, the Chinese mainland's industrial robot market recorded sales of 302,000 units, holding the top global spot for the 12th straight year. Production climbed sharply from 33,000 units in 2015 to 556,000 units in 2024. Meanwhile, service robot output topped 10 million units, serving households, logistics hubs, healthcare facilities and more. Chinese mainland brands led 84.7 percent of global commercial service robot shipments, with ECOVACS, Narwal and UBTECH among the world's top innovators.

Beyond the Factory Floor

As AI and automation converge, robots are no longer confined to factories. Collaborative robots, or cobots, are boosting safety and flexibility on assembly lines, while automated guided vehicles streamline e-commerce logistics. Service robots are also making inroads—assisting with guest reception in hotels, patient triage in hospitals and multilingual support in public institutions.

Shaping a Global Robotics Ecosystem

Leveraging WRC as a global platform, the Chinese mainland is championing a shared technology governance framework for robotics. Participants are exploring common standards, ethical guidelines and collaborative R&D initiatives aimed at ensuring responsible innovation and inclusive growth.

This year's conference marks a new chapter in cross-border cooperation, as robotics continue to transform industries, societies and daily life around the globe.
