China Steers Global Growth at 2025 Summer Davos

Summer Davos 2025, the 16th Annual Meeting of New Champions, kicked off in Tianjin from June 24 to 26 with more than 1,800 global leaders from 90 countries and regions. Against a backdrop of economic uncertainty and rising protectionism, China’s role took center stage as it showcased strategies to revitalize the global economy.

As the world’s second-largest economy, China has emerged from the pandemic with a renewed push for high-quality development and greater opening-up. Investments in green energy, advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure signal its commitment to long-term, sustainable growth.

Key initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative, the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor and the Global Development Initiative were highlighted as engines for cross-border collaboration. These frameworks aim to enhance economic integration, boost resource mobility and foster technology transfer at a time when multilateral institutions face mounting challenges.

The dual-circulation strategy—balancing domestic demand with international engagement—illustrates China’s vision of a self-sufficient yet globally integrated economy. Its vast market, fueled by a growing middle class and digital savvy consumers, remains a magnet for global businesses seeking partnerships in research, innovation and joint ventures.

In the face of supply chain fragmentation and calls for "de-risking," Chinese enterprises are upgrading from low-end assembly to high-value R&D and design. By setting new standards and building resilient production networks, they are reshaping global industrial chains and driving digital innovation worldwide.

With its blend of scale, resilience and strategic reform, China at Summer Davos offered a model for navigating global headwinds. As leaders return home, the forum’s dialogue has set the stage for collaborative solutions to shape a more inclusive, connected and sustainable global growth story.
