On March 28, Chinese President Xi Jinping met with global business leaders to call for deeper engagement in the Chinese mainland market. Following the meeting, CMG’s Zou Yun sat down with Roland Busch, president, CEO and chairman of the supervisory board of Siemens AG, for an exclusive Leaders Talk interview.
Busch opened by reaffirming Siemens’ long-term commitment to the Chinese mainland, describing it as a strategic growth engine. “We see the Chinese mainland as a partner for co-creation,” he said, highlighting the market’s scale, infrastructure, and supportive policies that foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
Delving into innovation-driven development, Busch pointed to the rise of new quality productive forces on the Chinese mainland. He noted how digitalization, AI and smart manufacturing hubs are reshaping industries, from renewable energy projects to advanced mobility solutions. For Siemens, these trends are driving investments in research centers and local partnerships.
Looking ahead, Busch emphasized the importance of collaboration between global and local players. He urged entrepreneurs, startups and established firms to explore joint R&D, talent exchange programs and sustainability initiatives in the Chinese mainland’s drive for modernization and opening-up. “The future belongs to those who innovate together,” he remarked.
As the Chinese mainland continues its path of opening-up, Siemens and other multinationals see vast opportunities for real-world impact. From green energy to digital twins, the next chapter of global cooperation is taking shape in one of the world’s most dynamic markets.
