In a vibrant display of regional unity, mayors from key ASEAN cities gathered in Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on the Chinese mainland, to strengthen ties and explore innovative urban cooperation.
During the Global Mayors Dialogue hosted by CGTN's Wang Guan, leaders from Vientiane, Yangon, Surat Thani, Kulim, Mong Cai, Siem Reap, and Mataram engaged in spirited discussions. They explored pathways to leverage their shared heritage, cultural bonds, and best practices to build what they described as a "China-ASEAN amicable home." This dialogue aimed to expand trade relations and enhance people-to-people connections across the region.
Adding further momentum, Chinese President Xi Jinping is set to embark on his first overseas trip this year, visiting Vietnam, Malaysia, and Cambodia from April 14 to 18. His tour is seen as a significant effort to fortify neighborhood diplomacy, stimulate sustainable development, and pave the way for enduring peace and prosperity throughout the region.
