Xi’s Liaoning Visit: Warmth and Commitment in Disaster Recovery and Development

Chinese President Xi Jinping recently visited Liaoning Province in northeast China to inspect disaster recovery, urban renewal, and industrial advancement efforts. This marks his first domestic inspection in 2025 and his 13th consecutive year visiting grassroots communities ahead of the Spring Festival.

On January 22, Xi visited Zhujiagou village in Huludao, a city severely affected by the summer floods of 2024 caused by unprecedented torrential downpours. The village committee quickly responded by building new homes for the affected households in higher areas. These new homes, tailored to each family's size and needs, were completed in under two months, providing nearly 200 disaster-stricken people with warm homes before winter.

During his visit, Xi inspected the progress of post-disaster restoration, visiting relocated villagers to assess the quality of their new houses and the provisions for their daily lives. This swift relocation reflects his \"people-first\" philosophy and commitment to enhancing residents' sense of security.

On January 23, Xi toured the Chang'an community in Shenyang, Liaoning's capital, to observe improvements in public services aimed at enhancing residents' quality of life. Since 2023, the community has been renovating old residential areas, upgrading 13 residential buildings and public spaces. Initiatives promoting quality employment, education, health services, and elderly care have also been launched to support residents.

Xi concluded his visit by touring a cold rolling mill of the Bensteel Group in Benxi, another city in Liaoning, to gain insights into the company's efforts to accelerate transformation and upgrading, promoting high-quality development.

Throughout his visit, Xi emphasized the importance of ensuring and improving people's livelihoods, consistent with his earlier statements during the 2013 National People's Congress. His actions in Liaoning underscore his commitment to delivering tangible benefits to the people and fostering sustainable development.
