G20 Summit: United for a Just and Common Development

At the 19th G20 summit held in Hangzhou on November 19, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of global cooperation in addressing the world's most pressing challenges. Xi stated that G20 leaders \"must see the world as one community with a shared future, and shoulder their responsibility for history, take historical initiative and move history forward.\"

This year marked a significant shift as China placed development at the center of the G20's macroeconomic policy coordination for the first time. Building on the momentum from the Hangzhou summit, the upcoming Rio summit aims to establish a Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, reinforcing the commitment to creating a just world of common development.

The discussions at the summit highlighted a range of global issues that transcend national borders. These include the impacts of climate change, limited natural resources, persistent hunger affecting over 700 million people, income inequality, migratory flows driven by political, economic, and environmental factors, international organized crime, rising protectionism, and the urgent infrastructure needs of countries in the Global South to improve living standards.

Xi Jinping emphasized that these challenges cannot be tackled by any single nation alone. Extreme weather events like floods, droughts, and fires, as well as transnational criminal activities, require collective action. Additionally, the migration crisis impacts both the countries people are leaving and those receiving them, necessitating coordinated solutions.

The G20 leaders collectively acknowledged that addressing such complex problems demands international cooperation and coordination, rejecting selfish and unilateral approaches. By working together, the G20 aims to foster a more equitable and sustainable global community.
