BRICS’ New Era: China’s Xi Jinping Leads Expansion and Cooperation

The BRICS coalition is gaining unprecedented momentum as it expands from five to ten members, signaling a significant shift in global dynamics. At the recent summit in Kazan, Russia, Chinese leader Xi Jinping emphasized China's commitment to enhancing cooperation among BRICS nations.

Xi Jinping announced the invitation of several new partner countries, marking a major milestone in BRICS' development. This expansion aims to strengthen solidarity within the Global South and foster collaboration among nations of varying sizes and economic standings.

Multi-Win Cooperation for a Multipolar World

In a world facing geopolitical tensions, financial instability, and climate change, BRICS presents a unified front for cooperation. Over the past 18 years, China has been pivotal in deepening mutually beneficial ties among BRICS partners. Xi's recent speech underscores China's determination to further this agenda.

Greater BRICS cooperation focuses on optimizing resource allocation and seizing development opportunities. The New Development Bank (NDB), based in Shanghai, has been instrumental in funding infrastructure and sustainable projects in developing countries, approving 105 projects worth approximately $35 billion by the end of 2023.

Xi also highlighted the importance of strengthening the NDB and aligning the international financial system with the evolving global economy. Initiatives like the China-BRICS AI Development and Cooperation Center and the Science and Innovation Incubation Park are fostering collaboration in cutting-edge fields such as aerospace, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence.

Innovative Education and Training

The BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution Innovation Center in Xiamen has conducted over 10 offline training courses since 2023, attracting more than 100 participants from over 70 countries. Additionally, Xi pledged to establish 10 overseas learning centers across BRICS nations to provide training for 1,000 education administrators, teachers, and students.

Ahmed Al-Ali, a political and strategic researcher at the Gulf Research Center in Dubai, commented, \"The BRICS cooperation mechanism plays a prominent role in enhancing the representation and influence of developing countries in international affairs and improving global governance, which is also a priority for the UAE.\"
