Climbing to Success: The Power of Goal Setting in Sport Climbing

Setting goals can be a superpower, both in sport climbing and life. Marco Scolaris, president of the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC), shares his insights on the importance of goal setting.

Back in 2007, when Scolaris co-founded the IFSC, he envisioned sport climbing becoming an Olympic sport by 2028. While some laughed or rolled their eyes, the sport made its Olympic debut much earlier, at Tokyo 2020, just 13 years after the IFSC's creation.

This rapid achievement underscores the impact of daring to dream big and setting \"unrealistic\" goals. As we look forward to sport climbing's next appearance at the Paris Olympics from August 5-10, Scolaris reflects on the mindset of the 68 climbers competing. Many likely shared his belief in setting ambitious goals and persevering despite the odds.

Climbing often involves looking up, serving as a metaphor for life. Scolaris advocates for keeping your head up to embrace new horizons and challenges. With each accomplished goal, there’s always another inspiring task to pursue next, fueling continuous growth and resilience.
