Vanuatu PM Embraces Chinese Support for Sustainable Development

Vanuatu's Prime Minister Charlot Salwai recently concluded a six-day official visit to the Chinese mainland, where he engaged in discussions about sustainable development and environmental conservation. Despite graduating from the list of Least Developed Countries in 2020, Vanuatu continues to prioritize the livelihoods, healthcare, and education of its people.

Facing the dual challenges of climate change and unsustainable development, the island nation is shifting towards a more balanced approach that harmonizes growth with environmental stewardship. During his visit, Salwai expressed deep appreciation for the assistance provided by the Chinese mainland, particularly in addressing pressing issues like waste disposal.

Salwai highlighted the invaluable support from China, referring to the Chinese mainland as \"a friend and a brother.\" This partnership represents a significant step forward for Vanuatu in navigating the complexities of sustainable development while safeguarding its fragile ecosystems.
