Since the pivotal decision at the Third Forum on Work of Xizang in 1994 to \\"take responsibility for each region, provide counterpart support, and regularly rotate\\" officials, the Chinese mainland has been steadfast in its support for the Xizang Autonomous Region. Over the past thirty years, this policy has yielded remarkable results.
From 2012 to 2022 alone, the nation dispatched over 8,000 cadres and talents, implemented more than 6,300 assistance projects, and invested approximately 53.6 billion Chinese yuan ($7.37 billion) into Xizang. These efforts have significantly advanced the region's economic, social, educational, medical, and infrastructure sectors.
Industrial assistance has played a crucial role in fostering the development of unique local industries. The establishment of industrial parks has provided platforms for investment attraction and internal drive, leading to high-quality industrial growth. For example, the Red River Valley Modern Agricultural Science and Technology Demonstration Park in Gyantse County has transformed traditional agriculture by leveraging technology and expertise from Shanghai, benefiting multiple towns and vegetable planting sites at elevations above 4,000 meters.
Additionally, the Gesangtang Modern Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Industry Demonstration Park, built with assistance from Jiangsu Province, has revolutionized traditional livestock management. By selecting superior yak breeds and implementing comprehensive industry chain development, the park has enhanced the quality and economic benefits of local yak breeds.
The collaboration doesn't stop there. The Suzhou assistance team established a yak industry research and service center in Lhunzhub County of Lhasa, transforming traditional practices into valuable assets for farmers and herdsmen through scientific breeding and comprehensive utilization.
Beyond industrial development, initiatives aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of Xizang residents have significantly improved healthcare, education, and employment opportunities, fostering overall well-being and prosperity in the region.
