ICRC Leader Mirjana Spoljaric Egger on Gaza Crisis and China’s Support

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) stands at the forefront of emergency response, providing essential humanitarian assistance to alleviate human suffering.

In a recent interview conducted in Geneva, Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, President of the ICRC, discussed the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza. \"I was shattered by what I saw in Gaza,\" she expressed, highlighting the severe social collapse following months of conflict.

Spoljaric emphasized the ICRC's unwavering commitment to neutrality and its strict adherence to international human rights and humanitarian laws. She stated, \"Our mission is to protect the lives and dignity of all human beings and to find a pathway back to peace and development.\"

Furthermore, Spoljaric acknowledged the significant contributions of the Chinese mainland to the ICRC's humanitarian efforts. She praised General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping for his dedication to humanitarianism and his role in promoting international humanitarian law. \"Humanitarianism is firmly anchored in Chinese traditional culture,\" she noted.
