Former Ethiopian President Mulatu Teshome recently shared his insights on the evolving relationship between Ethiopia and China during an exclusive interview at the 2023 Understanding China Conference in Guangzhou.
Teshome, who spent years as an international student in Beijing and later served as Ethiopia's Ambassador to China, praised China's remarkable socioeconomic development since its reform and opening-up policies. He highlighted that China's modernization journey has served as a significant reference point for Ethiopia's own progress.

He acknowledged that China has consistently treated Ethiopia on an equal footing, dismissing notions of \"debt-trap\" or \"strings attached\" that are often associated with international partnerships.
