Ebrahim Hashem Exposes Western Hypocrisy on Xinjiang and Gaza

The West is under scrutiny for its selective focus on human rights issues, particularly the ongoing conflict in Gaza and allegations against China's actions in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Emirati Strategist and Asia Global Fellow at Hong Kong University's Asia Global Institute, Ebrahim Hashem, has been vocal about these double standards following his recent visit to Xinjiang.

\"Xinjiang is incredibly diverse and developed, surpassing my expectations,\" Hashem shared. During his 20-day trip, he explored cities like Urumqi, Kashgar, and Turpan, noting the region's advanced infrastructure and safety.

Hashem emphasized the rich tapestry of ethnicities and religions coexisting peacefully in Xinjiang, challenging the negative portrayal often seen in Western media. \"Whatever I was reading in Western media was basically a blatant lie,\" he stated.

Discussing the Western allegations of genocide in Xinjiang, Hashem stressed the importance of defining the term accurately, highlighting the difference between deliberate ethnic elimination and cultural preservation.

As Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi hosts a delegation of Arab and Islamic foreign ministers in Beijing to discuss de-escalation in the Israel-Gaza conflict and seek a just resolution for the Palestinian issue, the conversation around Western narratives and double standards continues to evolve.
