As China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) marks its 10th anniversary, global leaders gathered in Beijing from October 17-18 for the third BRI Forum for International Cooperation. Among the attendees was Pakistan's caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, who highlighted the significant benefits his country has reaped from BRI infrastructure projects.
During an exclusive interview with CMG's Wang Guan, PM Kakar expressed admiration for China's rapid development and modernization, emphasizing that the BRI embodies China's self-confidence on the global stage. He lauded the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for its transformative impact on Pakistan's economy and infrastructure, reinforcing the strong and enduring China-Pakistan friendship.
PM Kakar also addressed geopolitical dynamics, rejecting what he termed the "China containment policy" as "unnatural." He criticized the Bretton Wood order, describing it as "dogmatic" and argued that Western media have often misrepresented Pakistan, failing to capture the true identity and spirit of his nation.
The discussions at the BRI Forum reflect a deepening strategic cooperation between China and Pakistan, underscoring their commitment to mutual growth and development over the coming decade.
