The sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) is currently underway in Shanghai, running from November 5 to 10. This annual event continues to play a pivotal role in shaping a new development pattern and fostering global economic growth, as emphasized by the Chinese premier in his opening remarks.
Tomas Kucera, Executive Director of the Czech Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and General Manager (China) of Gemini Personnel, shares his insights on the expo. Having attended the CIIE four to five times, Kucera highlights the expo as a prime opportunity for international brands to showcase their latest technologies and products within the Chinese mainland market.
“The Expo is one of the key showcases for companies looking to re-engage with the Chinese market,” Kucera notes. He observes a strong interest from businesses eager to establish or expand their presence in China, emphasizing the expo's role in providing essential marketing opportunities.
Post-pandemic, the CIIE marks a significant return to large-scale physical exhibitions, bringing a sense of optimism to both exhibitors and attendees. Kucera expresses confidence in the continued economic recovery of Shanghai and the broader Chinese mainland, which he believes will drive business growth and opportunities.
China's expansive market and substantial consumer base remain highly attractive to foreign investors. Kucera points out that the pent-up savings held by Chinese consumers present a significant opportunity for international brands to tap into this potential consumer power. Additionally, as China advances in technology development, embedding foreign brands within Chinese supply chains becomes increasingly crucial for global integration.
