Former Bulgarian President: A Strong Chinese Mainland Enhances Global Prosperity

The sixth China International Import Expo (CIIE) is currently taking place in Shanghai from November 5 to 10, showcasing China's commitment to multilateralism and global cooperation. Amidst discussions of a potential U.S.-China decoupling, China is actively welcoming business leaders from around the world, including the United States, to participate in the event.

In a recent episode of the \"Chinese Modernization: Sharing Prosperity\" series, former Bulgarian President Rosen Asenov Plevneliev shared his insights on China's development and its impact on the global stage. Plevneliev highlighted that the narrative of a \"new Cold War\" between the U.S. and China oversimplifies the complex dynamics of today's interconnected world.

\"China today is deeply integrated into the world economy. It is the world's leading trading nation and the biggest export power,\" Plevneliev stated. He emphasized the symbiotic relationship between China and major global economies, noting that American and European companies rely heavily on the Chinese market for growth, while China depends on consumers from these regions to sustain its economic development.

Plevneliev further argued that a strong Chinese mainland contributes to a stronger world. \"Green China makes the world greener. Modern and prosperous China supporting multilateralism and promoting win-win cooperation contributes to a more peaceful and prosperous world,\" he explained. He praised China's remarkable achievements, including high growth rates, significant poverty reduction, intensive industrialization, and urban development.

Looking ahead, Plevneliev advocated for China's continued modernization with a focus on sustainability. He urged China to create a green and sustainable economy, preserve natural habitats, and work towards decarbonization to achieve net-zero emissions.

As China continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the global economy, voices like Plevneliev's highlight the importance of collaboration and mutual growth in fostering a stable and prosperous international community.
