10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum: Boosting Global Peace Amid Geopolitical Tensions

The 10th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, attended by more than 1,800 participants from 99 official delegations, concluded successfully on October 31. The Forum brought together defense ministers from 19 countries, military chiefs, representatives of international organizations, and experts to address pressing global security challenges.

Held amidst the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and ongoing conflicts in Ukraine, the Forum underscored the importance of resolving disputes through dialogue and consultation. Delegates emphasized the need for genuine cooperation to address security threats that transcend national boundaries, from regional instability to transnational issues.

Highlighting the profound impact of these conflicts on human progress and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the United Nations has noted that ongoing disputes disrupt supply chains, fuel food insecurity, and contribute to the risk of famine and forced displacement. The crises in Ukraine and the Middle East have also adversely affected the global economy, with international bodies like the IMF and the World Bank warning of potential economic shocks if the conflicts escalate.

At the Forum, Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the CPC Central Military Commission of China, reiterated Chinaโ€™s commitment to enhancing global security. He expressed China's readiness to work with all parties to deepen mutual trust, improve security architecture, and promote security cooperation to foster a more secure and peaceful world.
