Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of building a global community of shared future during his keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation on Wednesday. The event, themed \"High-quality Belt and Road Cooperation: Together for Common Development and Prosperity,\" celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with over 4,000 delegates in attendance.
\"China can only do well when the world is doing well. When China does well, the world will get even better,\" President Xi stated. He highlighted that the BRI aligns with the concept of a global community of shared future, promoting China's openness and transforming its inland regions from \"fullbacks\" to \"forwards,\" thereby establishing closer ties with the global market.
Under the BRI framework, participating countries have been working to promote trade and investment liberalization, remove trade barriers, and improve business environments. From 2013 to 2022, the cumulative value of imports and exports between China and BRI partner countries reached $19.1 trillion, with an average annual growth rate of 6.4 percent, according to the white paper \"The Belt and Road Initiative: A Key Pillar of the Global Community of Shared Future.\"
With the BRI, the world is collaborating to expand the \"pie of cooperation,\" fostering common development and prosperity for all involved nations.
