China’s Super Golden Week Sees Record-Breaking Domestic Travel

This past week, the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day merged into an eight-day \"Super Golden Week\" holiday, offering not only cherished family gatherings but also a surge in domestic tourism. According to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a total of 826 million domestic passenger trips were made during the holiday period, marking a 71.3% year-on-year increase and a 4.1% rise compared to 2019.

The surge in holiday tourism generated a remarkable 753.43 billion Chinese yuan ($104.68 billion), reflecting a 129.5% year-on-year growth and a 1.5% rise from 2019. This impressive performance underscores a shift in travel preferences towards more in-depth and quality experiences.

As living standards continue to rise, Chinese travelers are increasingly seeking richer and more immersive travel experiences. The Ctrip's Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Travel Forecast Report released on September 13 highlights that 73% of travel orders were for cross-province tours, a 10% increase from the previous year. Additionally, nearly 20% of travelers opted for stays of three or more consecutive days.

October, with its golden autumn scenery, proved to be an ideal time for tourism, attracting visitors to destinations like Xinjiang, Gansu, and Inner Mongolia. In response to the high demand, popular cities and emerging attractions enhanced their tourism products and services, focusing on elevating the quality of the visitor experience.

This week, Inner Mongolia's Alashan Right Banner hosted thousands of visitors for cultural activities, including music festivals, diverse cuisines, and competitive events. Enthusiasts from across the country converged in the picturesque Badanjilin Desert to engage in off-road adventures and enjoy vibrant folk customs. This influx of tourists has stimulated growth in local industries such as hospitality, dining, and transportation, boosting the regional economy.

The integration of cultural and sports tourism is emerging as a prominent trend. Earlier this year, events like the \"Village BA\" Basketball Tournament and the \"Village Super\" Soccer League in Guizhou Province demonstrated the potential to ignite passion and foster community spirit among participants and spectators alike.
