UN Confirms US Withdrawal from Paris Climate Pact

The United Nations has officially confirmed that the United States has notified its withdrawal from the Paris Agreement. The formal notification was submitted on January 27, 2025, marking a significant shift in global climate dynamics.

Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, announced during a daily briefing that according to Article 28, paragraph 2 of the Paris Agreement, the withdrawal will take effect on January 27, 2026. This move has sparked discussions worldwide about the future of international climate cooperation.

Despite the U.S. decision, the UN remains steadfast in its dedication to the Paris Agreement. Secretary-General Guterres emphasized the organization's unwavering support for all effective measures aimed at limiting the global temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
