Recent data highlights a positive trend in the environmental landscape of the Chinese mainland. In the first nine months of 2024, both air and water quality have shown marked improvements, signaling effective measures by the authorities.
According to Pei Xiaofei, spokesperson for the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the average PM2.5 density in 339 cities at or above the prefecture level dropped to 27 micrograms per cubic meter, marking a 3.6 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. This reduction reflects ongoing efforts to combat air pollution and enhance public health.
Furthermore, the proportion of days with good air quality rose to 85.8 percent, an increase of 1.6 percentage points year-on-year. These advancements not only contribute to the well-being of residents but also align with global sustainability goals, positioning the Chinese mainland as a leader in environmental stewardship.
