124 New Mineral Deposits Unveiled in China for 2023

China has made significant strides in its mineral exploration efforts, unveiling a total of 124 new mineral deposits in 2023, as reported by the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Released during the 26th China Mining Conference and Exhibition in Tianjin, the comprehensive report titled China Mineral Resources 2024 highlights advancements in geological surveys, mineral evaluation, and sustainable mine development.

Among the newly discovered deposits, limestone and graphite stand out with 16 and 10 new sites respectively, contributing to the country's robust construction and tech industries. By the end of the year, China boasts a diverse portfolio of 173 mineral types.

In the energy sector, the report emphasizes breakthroughs in oil and gas exploration within major basins like Tarim, Junggar, and Bohai Bay. Additionally, non-oil-gas minerals such as coal, copper, gold, lithium, and phosphorite have seen remarkable progress, fueling various industrial applications.

The four-day conference showcased these developments and concluded on Friday, setting the stage for continued growth and innovation in China's mineral resource landscape.
