Severe flooding in northern Thailand has forced many residents of Chiang Mai and its surrounding areas to seek safety on higher ground. Heavy rainfall on Thursday caused river levels to rise rapidly, leading to widespread water inundation across the region.
In addition to the human impact, the Elephant Nature Park, home to around 3,000 rescued animals including 125 elephants, 800 dogs, 2,500 cats, 200 rabbits, and 200 cows, is also facing the threat of rising floodwaters. Evacuation efforts are currently underway to safeguard both the animals and the park's infrastructure.
Local authorities are coordinating rescue operations to ensure the safety of all residents and animals affected by the heavy rains. The ongoing flood situation underscores the need for effective disaster preparedness and response in the region.
