Relentless monsoon rains have caused devastating floods in Nepal, claiming 112 lives and severely damaging infrastructure in Kathmandu and beyond.
Low-lying neighborhoods in Kathmandu were inundated by surging floodwaters on Sunday. Since Friday, large swathes of eastern and central Nepal have been hit by flash floods, causing extensive damage to the country's highways.
The Kathmandu valley recorded 240 millimeters of rain in the 24 hours to Saturday morning, Nepal's weather bureau reported to the Kathmandu Post newspaper.
