China Initiates Flood Emergency Response in 5 Provinces Amid Typhoon Threats

China's Ministry of Water Resources has activated a Level-IV emergency response to flooding in five provincial-level regions: Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Henan, and Hainan. This represents the lowest tier in the ministry’s four-tier system.

The emergency is prompted by the impacts of Typhoon Bebinca, Typhoon Pulasan, and a tropical depression in the South China Sea. The ministry projects that water levels in some medium-sized and minor rivers across these regions will surpass warning thresholds between Wednesday and Friday.

Local authorities are on alert, preparing to implement necessary measures to mitigate flood risks and ensure public safety. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay informed and follow guidance from local officials.
