In the wake of Super Typhoon Yagi, Hainan Province is swiftly returning to normalcy as nearly 70 percent of construction projects have resumed operations. The provincial government announced on Wednesday that 1,979 out of 2,860 ongoing projects are back on track, marking a significant milestone in the island's recovery efforts.
Haikou City, the capital of Hainan, endured substantial damage from the typhoon, notably to the Wuyuan River Stadium. In response, local authorities launched prompt rescue operations, restoring power, clearing debris, and providing essential aid to affected residents. The community's resilience shone through as volunteers and donors rallied to support those impacted by the storm.
By Wednesday morning, most large supermarkets and farmers' markets in Haikou had reopened, ensuring that daily necessities were readily available. Gas stations are operational, major roads have been cleared, and public transportation services have returned to their usual schedules. Schools have also resumed classes, allowing daily life to regain its usual rhythm.
The Hainan provincial government has committed to assisting over 90 percent of enterprises in key industrial parks located in less-affected areas to resume production by September 15. They anticipate that by September 25, the production resumption rate across all key industrial parks in the province will exceed 95 percent, signaling a robust economic rebound.
Super Typhoon Yagi made landfall in Hainan last week, bringing widespread damage across the island. However, the swift and coordinated recovery efforts highlight Hainan's determination to overcome the challenges posed by the natural disaster.
