Typhoon Yagi Claims 35 Lives in Vietnam Amid Devastating Landslides and Floods

Last Saturday, Typhoon Yagi unleashed its fury upon Vietnam's northeastern coast, triggering devastating landslides and floods that have tragically claimed 35 lives and left 24 individuals missing, according to the country's disaster management agency.

The mountainous province of Lao Cai has been the hardest hit, suffering 13 fatalities due to landslides and one from a flash flood. Quang Ninh province, directly in the typhoon's path, reported an additional six deaths.

Yagi made landfall amidst a region known for its significant manufacturing operations, housing both domestic and foreign companies. The powerful storm was downgraded to a tropical depression on Sunday by the meteorological agency, but the aftermath continues to impact the affected communities and the local economy.

As Vietnam navigates the recovery process, the international community watches closely, highlighting the importance of disaster preparedness and resilient infrastructure in mitigating the effects of such natural calamities.
