Heavy Monsoon Rains Claim 33 Lives in South India and Pakistan

Heavy monsoon rains and floods have tragically killed at least 33 people in southern India and five children in Pakistan over the past two days, authorities reported on Tuesday.

In India's Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, torrential downpours caused houses to collapse and be swept away, while floods disrupted both road and rail traffic. The regional weather service has issued a red alert for 11 districts, forecasting more rain in the area. Shanta Kumari, Telangana's top bureaucrat, emphasized the severity of the situation.

Since Monday, more than 4,000 individuals have been relocated to 110 government-run relief camps in Telangana, according to the state's chief minister, A. Revanth Reddy. Overflowing lakes, tanks, and streams have also isolated some villages in the Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts, exacerbating the crisis.
