First Report Shows Healthy Coral Reefs in China’s Xianbin Jiao

The first comprehensive report on the coral reef ecosystem at Xianbin Jiao in China's Nansha Qundao has been released, revealing a generally healthy state of the marine environment.

Conducted between May and July 2024, the survey was a joint effort by the South China Sea Development Research Institute of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the South China Sea Ecological Center, the South China Sea Survey Center, and other key organizations. The report highlights that while the coral reef ecosystem remains robust, there are signs of local damages.

This initial evaluation provides valuable insights into the health of the coral reefs in Xianbin Jiao, forming a foundation for future conservation and restoration efforts.
