The Chinese mainland has unveiled an ambitious plan to standardize carbon emission calculations across key sectors, reinforcing its commitment to carbon reduction targets.
By the end of 2024, 70 national standards covering carbon accounting, footprint, reduction, capture, utilization, and storage will be introduced. This comprehensive framework aims to ensure consistency and accuracy in measuring and managing carbon emissions across all major industries.
The plan, announced by the National Development and Reform Commission, the State Administration for Market Regulation, and the Ministry of Emergency Management, will encompass all key sectors and companies. In 2025, a standardized calculation and evaluation system will be established for businesses, projects, and products, positioning Chinaโs energy consumption control measures at world-leading benchmarks.
This strategic move not only supports China's environmental goals but also enhances transparency and accountability in carbon management, paving the way for sustainable growth and innovation in the global market.
