Since July 26, heavy rainfall caused by Typhoon Gaemi has severely impacted the residents of Hunan Province in the Chinese mainland. According to local authorities, an estimated 1.15 million people have been affected, with direct economic losses reaching approximately 6.13 billion yuan (about $847 million).
The relentless rainstorms prompted the evacuation of 95,000 individuals across the province. Of those evacuated, nearly 50,000 (49,800) required emergency relief services to ensure their safety and well-being amid the ongoing weather challenges.
Officials from the provincial flood control and drought relief headquarters are working tirelessly to provide assistance and mitigate the effects of the disaster. The community remains resilient as efforts continue to address the immediate needs of those affected by Typhoon Gaemi's heavy rains.
