Indonesia has taken a significant step towards combating climate change by finalizing its regulation for carbon capture and storage (CCS). This development reinforces the nation's commitment to reducing global carbon emissions and promoting a sustainable future.
Dadan Kusdiana, the secretary general of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, announced on Tuesday that the regulation is currently awaiting President Joko Widodo's approval before it can be implemented.
\"The regulation has completed the harmonization process and is now in the process of obtaining approval from the president,\" Kusdiana stated during a webinar on carbon trading held in Jakarta. This regulation is expected to facilitate the adoption of CCS technologies across various industries in Indonesia.
In addition to CCS, Kusdiana highlighted that Indonesia is actively expanding its use of renewable energy sources and other low-carbon energy alternatives. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to mitigate climate change and enhance environmental sustainability.
