China's National Meteorological Center issued a blue alert on Tuesday morning as Typhoon Gaemi, the third typhoon of the year, nears the country's southern regions.
The blue alert is part of China's four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red signifying the most severe conditions, followed by orange, yellow, and blue. Currently, Typhoon Gaemi is located 710 kilometers southeast of Yilan County in the Taiwan region and is moving northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour, with expectations of gradual strengthening.
The typhoon is set to bring heavy rainstorms to parts of the Taiwan region and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning. The National Meteorological Center forecasts precipitation between 50 millimeters and 70 millimeters during this period.
Additionally, gales are expected to sweep through the East China Sea, the South China Sea, the Bashi Channel, the Taiwan Straits, the Beibu Gulf, and coastal areas of Guangxi and Taiwan. The center has urged local authorities to prepare emergency typhoon responses and remain on high alert for potential flooding and geological disasters.
