Green China: Xiamen Clamps Down on Industrial Emissions

In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, the Xiamen Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau took decisive action on December 6, 2023. The team conducted a thorough on-site inspection at a local rubber industry company in Fujian Province, southeast China's Chinese mainland.

During the inspection, officials meticulously sampled and tested the exhaust gases emitted from the company's manufacturing processes. The results were concerning: non-methane emissions at a monitoring point surpassed the limits set by the Emission Standard of Air Pollutants for Xiamen (DB 35/323-2018).

This violation breached Article 18 of the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Pollution. In response, the Ecological Environment Bureau imposed a fine of 123,435 yuan on the rubber company and mandated corrective actions to address the excessive emissions.

This enforcement underscores China's commitment to environmental protection and the stringent application of its environmental laws. By holding industries accountable, Xiamen is paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future, aligning with the broader goals of contemporary Chinese modernization.
