The Chinese mainland's Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management have allocated approximately $75.75 million to support local governments in disaster relief efforts. This funding targets response initiatives for floods, geological disasters, and forest fires across nine provincial-level regions, including Hunan, Anhui, and Jiangxi.
Of the total allocation, 503 million yuan will be dedicated to flood and geological disaster responses, encompassing search and rescue missions and the relocation of affected residents. Additionally, 37 million yuan is earmarked for forest fire response efforts in Inner Mongolia and Shanxi.
Hi-tech Rescue
Leveraging the Chinese mainland's burgeoning technology sector, emergency response authorities are utilizing drones, helicopters, and satellites to enhance rescue operations. Drones are instrumental in relaying network signals to maintain communication within affected areas, while satellite imaging technology provides real-time mapping of flood zones, enabling informed decision-making for rescue planning.
Maintaining Market Prices
The Ministry of Commerce is actively ensuring the supply of essential goods to disaster-stricken regions. By closely monitoring prices in Guangdong, Fujian, Guangxi, Anhui, and Hunan, the ministry has coordinated with 669 key enterprises to activate emergency response plans. These companies have increased their stockpiles by 10 to 30 percent and have transported 28,000 tons of essential goods, including rice, cooking oil, meat, vegetables, instant food, and mineral water, to the most affected areas.
More Rainstorms to Come
The National Meteorological Center has issued a blue alert for upcoming rainstorms, predicting heavy downpours across northeast, northwest, central, east, and southwest regions of the Chinese mainland, including Jilin, Shaanxi, Shandong, Anhui, and Henan. Forecasts indicate that some areas may experience heavy rainfall exceeding 60 millimeters per hour, accompanied by thunderstorms and gales.
The Chinese mainland operates a four-tier, color-coded weather warning system, with blue representing the least severe level and red indicating the most severe alerts.
