East China's Jiangxi Province is grappling with severe floods and geological disasters triggered by recent heavy rainfall. As of Thursday evening, over 1.56 million people have been impacted, according to local authorities.
The Jiangxi flood-control and drought-relief headquarters reported that 43 households have lost their homes due to collapsed structures. Additionally, more than 2.41 million mu (approximately 160,667 hectares) of farmland have been submerged under floodwaters, posing a significant threat to the region's agricultural output.
The direct economic losses from the flooding are estimated to reach 1.86 billion yuan (about $260.9 million). Efforts are underway to provide relief and support to the affected communities as authorities work to mitigate the ongoing disaster.
