An intense heat wave continues to grip much of the United States this weekend, bringing record-breaking temperatures and placing millions of people under heat alerts.
The Weather Prediction Center (WPC) reported on Saturday that the heat wave is expected to persist over much of the eastern U.S. south of a quasi-stationary boundary.
\"These temperatures remain the most anomalous and dangerous for early summer over portions of the Midwest/Ohio Valley east to the Mid-Atlantic,\" the WPC stated.
In addition to the eastern regions, conditions will remain scorching from central to southern California, with temperatures expected to reach the mid- to upper 100s Fahrenheit on Sunday and Monday.
