In a robust response to the ongoing drought, Chinese authorities have allocated 443 million yuan (approximately $62.26 million) in disaster relief funds aimed at supporting agricultural production across several provinces.
The Ministry of Finance announced on Tuesday that the funds will be directed towards drought prevention and control efforts in Hebei, Shanxi, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, and Shaanxi provinces. These regions have been significantly impacted by sweltering heat, leading to soil moisture loss and challenging conditions for seed sowing and crop growth during the summer months.
