China and U.S. Unite for Global Climate Action

In a significant move towards combating climate change, China's envoy to the United States emphasized the crucial need for China-U.S. cooperation in global climate governance. During the opening ceremony of the China-U.S. High-Level Event on Subnational Climate Action held in California, Ambassador Xie Feng delivered a compelling message via video.

Ambassador Xie highlighted that climate change is a shared challenge, urging that only through collaborative efforts can nations achieve mutual benefits. \"No one will emerge as a winner from a zero-sum game,\" he stated, reinforcing the idea that cooperation is the key to sustainable solutions.

China has positioned itself as a proactive player in the fight against climate change, adhering to a path of green, low-carbon, and sustainable development. Ambassador Xie pointed out that as the largest developing and developed nations, China and the United States each bring unique strengths to the table, particularly in energy transition and circular economy.

He expressed optimism about the vast potential for climate cooperation between the two countries, emphasizing the complementary nature of their efforts. To transform their shared vision into tangible actions, Ambassador Xie called for the active participation of enterprises, think tanks, and social organizations from both nations at the subnational level.

The event marks a pivotal step in implementing the consensus reached at the San Francisco summit, aiming to expand bilateral climate initiatives and foster a collaborative approach to global environmental challenges.
