China’s Meteorological Data Network Reaches 520K Global Users

The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) announced on Friday a significant milestone in its data network, which now serves over 520,000 professional users worldwide. Annually, the network delivers approximately 173TB of service data, enhancing weather forecasting, issuing meteorological warnings, and supporting initiatives under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Since its inception in 2015, the CMA's data network has been pivotal in providing accurate and timely meteorological information. This extensive data resource not only aids domestic sectors but also benefits international partners involved in the BRI, fostering collaborative efforts in infrastructure development, environmental monitoring, and disaster management.

The expansion of the CMA's data network underscores China's commitment to leveraging technology and data to address global challenges. By offering reliable meteorological data, the CMA supports a range of applications from agriculture and transportation to emergency preparedness, ensuring that both local and international communities are better equipped to respond to weather-related events.
