Boosting Urban Livability: China’s Response to Extreme Weather

China is taking significant steps to enhance the livability of its cities amidst increasing extreme weather conditions. In 2022, the country awarded 26 additional cities the prestigious title of \"National Forest City,\" a recognition that underscores their commitment to green urban development.

In addition to expanding the number of National Forest Cities, China has constructed 3,520 \"small parks\" nationwide. These parks not only provide much-needed green spaces for residents but also help mitigate the impacts of severe weather by improving air quality and reducing urban heat islands.

These initiatives reflect China's proactive approach to creating sustainable and resilient urban environments, ensuring that cities remain vibrant and livable even as they face the challenges posed by climate change.
