New Yellow Impatiens Species Unearthed in Southwest China

In an exciting botanical discovery, Chinese researchers have identified a new species of impatiens in the lush landscapes of southwest China's Guizhou Province. Named Impatiens beipanjiangensis, this vibrant plant boasts striking yellow flowers that caught the attention of scientists during a field survey in October 2019.

The species was first described in a recent edition of the journal PhytoKeys, highlighting its unique characteristics and the rich biodiversity of the Beipanjiang River Basin in Panzhou City. Xu Jian, a dedicated researcher at the Guizhou Botanical Garden and a key member of the discovery team, emphasized the significance of this find in contributing to our understanding of regional flora.

This discovery not only adds to the botanical diversity of the region but also underscores the importance of ongoing field research in uncovering the hidden treasures of China's natural habitat.
