In a stunning display of natural beauty, more than 50 grey herons were recently photographed in Nahan Village of Gulin County, Sichuan Province, southwest China. These elegant birds, typically found in the wetlands of Eurasia and Africa, have become a captivating sight for both locals and visitors.
The grey heron, classified as a second-level national protected bird in China, has been seen leisurely resting on a holly tree while others soar gracefully across the sky. Village residents report that there are over 30 nests in the holly tree, providing a safe haven for the approximately 50 grey herons that call it home.
From the early morning hours, these herons glide effortlessly through the sky, embodying grace and tranquility. As the sun sets, they gather together, nestling up with one another and showcasing their poised forms. This harmonious display not only highlights the rich biodiversity of Sichuan Province but also emphasizes the importance of conservation efforts in protecting such magnificent species.
