Sandstorm Alerts Renewed in Gansu Province as Northwestern Cities Face Dusty Conditions

A billowing cloud of yellow dust has enveloped several cities in northwestern China’s Gansu Province this Saturday, including Jiuquan City, Zhangye City, Jinchang City, and Wuwei City.

China's national observatory has renewed a yellow alert for sandstorms in parts of the province, indicating significant dusty conditions. The country employs a three-tier color-coded weather warning system for sandstorms, with orange representing the most severe warning, followed by yellow and blue.

According to the Gansu Public Security Government Service Platform, as of 11 a.m. on April 13, there was sandy and dusty weather in some areas of Jiuquan and Zhangye, along with cloudy conditions in other regions. In response, temporary traffic controls were implemented at the entrances of toll stations along the G30 Lianhuo Expressway from Laosimiao to Linze. By 1 p.m., these traffic controls were lifted as conditions began to improve.

Residents and travelers are advised to stay updated with the latest weather alerts to ensure safety and plan their activities accordingly.
