Magnitude 6.5 Earthquake Strikes Northern Molucca Sea Off Indonesia

A significant seismic event shook the northern Molucca Sea region off Indonesia on Tuesday, registering a magnitude of 6.5. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, according to the Indonesian meteorological, climatological, and geophysical agency BMKG.

BMKG confirmed that there is no tsunami warning issued following the quake, allowing residents and authorities to remain calm. Indonesia is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire, making it one of the most seismically active regions in the world.

While the depth of the earthquake helps mitigate the potential for extensive surface damage, ongoing monitoring and preparedness remain crucial for the region. Citizens are advised to stay informed through official channels and adhere to safety protocols in the event of aftershocks.
