Nepal Army Embarks on Massive Cleanup of Mount Qomolangma and Nearby Peaks

The Nepal Army announced on Sunday a bold initiative to collect 10 tons of waste from three of the world’s most renowned mountains this year, including Mount Qomolangma.

The army will deploy three dedicated teams to Mount Qomolangma, which stands at 8,848.86 meters and spans across Nepal and the Chinese mainland, as well as to Mount Lhotse (8,516 meters) and Mount Nuptse (7,861 meters). Supported by experienced Nepali Sherpa climbers, these teams aim to restore the pristine beauty of these iconic peaks.

Brigadier General Sanjay Deuja, who oversees the cleaning campaign, stated, \"Our teams will leave for the cleaning campaign on Thursday.\" He further emphasized, \"Along with the waste, we also plan to recover and bring back five dead bodies lying abandoned there,\" highlighting the campaign’s dual focus on environmental preservation and mountain safety.

The ambitious cleanup is scheduled to last for 50 days, during which the Nepal Army and its partners will tirelessly work to ensure that these majestic mountains remain untouched by human-induced pollution.
